I think there is a lot of truth to your theory.

In recent years, there has been an incredible number of kindnappings and murders of children.

As evidence of the fact that attractive, white (usually blonde-haired) females get by far the most press coverage, I would submit that the vast majority of people who watch even a little bit of news probably know who Elizabeth Smart and Natalee Holloway are.

Meanwhile, if the same thing happens to a black female, chance are, we'd never hear about it, unless she were a child of a celebrity.

In Jon-Benet's case, she was not kidnapped, but was found dead in her home...but she still gets an incredible amount of pubicity because she was white, and blonde....and was contantly being entered those idiotic pageants...

Nationality doesn't even enter the picture here. It was ONLY because she was a CHILD!!! That is the ONLY reason for the publicity.

What does white have to do with nationality?

its not only that she was a little kid.....and plus she was in the public eye already....that could serve as a reason why it was/is a public thing....plus even if it was another kid the media would still be all over it once the got a lead.
