The U.S. system of government has a good system of checks and balances until the sumpreme court is concerned, who holds them accountable. Their word is practicly law and they are free to rule any action unconstitutional at a whim.

Congress holds them in check.
they can amend the constitution to make a law Constitutional.


Also the president holds them in check by appointing Justices.

we have lived with a conservative court for twenty years.......even though they have held back real reform and progress we've survived.

Except that it was shameful and inexcuseable thier involvement in Gore Vs Bush.
they stopped the counting of votes.

No. The creators of the US constitution gave the supreme court the power to prevent evil people who become presidents (they are elected by people who elect them out of fear that their main rivals would be worse) from being as horrible to their people as they are horrible to others.
