I am hungry all the time. When I get really hungry, I feel sick to my stomach, so I have to eat. My digestion seems to have slowed wayyy down though b/c right after eating I get heartburn, and then I feel bloated for hours. I'm also gaining weight (which I shouldn't be this early) b/c I'm hungry constantly and I'm sleeping way too much. I fall asleep constantly; I've even been dozing off at work lateley and I never do that! What can I do to give myself some energy to do more than just eat and sleep? I'm feeling so bad about myself b/c my housework and work is suffering.

This is my fifth pregnancy, and my third child. So I can't rest when I want to! And I really have to find the energy to get out of bed and take care of my family!

Do what your body tells you, if you're tired have a nap, if you're hungry eat, don't fight it, go easy on yourself. Your body is going through huge changes and the surge in hormones are going to make you feel like this i'm afraid and you'll find you won't be able to do everything like you used to. You'll find that you'll feel a bit better once you enter your 4th month like I did.
As for weight gain, my midwife told me that they do not judge your pregnancy on weight gain because weight gain does not necessarily mean its because of the baby. They'll start measuring your fundus to check for baby growth ( from the top pf your pubic bone to the top of your uterus) and will also check measurements of the baby at your dating scan (around 12 weeks)...unless of course you're having more than one baby!!
Heartburn - I suffer from that all the time but I've got some chewable Gaviscon tablets that are ok for use during pregnancy (they are a life saver considering we can't take much in the way of medication during pregnancy).
Ooh, and I recommed swimming, you feel fab and light in the water and it gives you a welcomed energy boost

i hope you feel better soon chick :)

It sounds like what you're eating has a big impact on the rest. Try some fruit - oranges are supposed to be good for energy.
I lived on Tums when I was pregnant. they helped a lot.
Pregnancy has a way of screwing everything up. My sister is pregnant now and I tell her just suck it up. Unless you get pregnant again, you will never have this much time to sleep until your kid is gone.
And don't worry about your housework. Nesting will kick in eventually and all you will want to do it CLEAN!

I had a lot of the same problems. Tums/maalox chewables help with the heartburn and my cousin gave me some 'preggie pops' candy that have ginger and vitamen C, they seemed to help a lot with the nausea. I think exercising is supposed to help with the tiredness but i was so quesy I could barely walk around the house, much less the neighborhood, lol. Anyway, I'm 12 weeks now and starting to feel a lot better, so hopefully this will pass for you soon.

Welcome to the introduction of motherhood. I ate a lot of bananas because they were easy for me to digest and the potassium gave me energy. I drank a ton of water and milk too and tums were my friend. I limited myself to about 4 to 6 tums a day and took them only when I really needed it because your body will adjust to the tums and you'll still get heartburn. Look for fresh vegetables and fruits that you can munch on to stay awake and not worry about gaining too much weight if you need too. Good luck!

Get some Ginger, it really helps with the nausea, and digestion, and its really good for you. Also, keep some crackers, or easy snaking stuff with you, and snack, don't let your stomach get empty and it will relieve the feeling.
