Sorry, I mistyped someting. It should be: Why is the boiling point of CCl4 higher than that of SiCl4?

The fact is, CCl4 has a higher boiling point that SiCl4.

although there is no dipole moment in SiCl4 also ,its size is bigger than that of CCl4. this is bcoz Si is larger in size to C. hence van der wall forces are more prominent in SiCl4. therefore its bp and mp is higher than CCl4.

Si is more electroposite... as electropositivity increases down the group in periodic table.
so bond strength is more in SiCl4...

um, because they're different molecules? carbon is different than silicon
