This is one of the inherent objectives of all faith-based disciplines. But in this context it is strongly conditioned. One is to be enlightened and at the same time empowered if certain rule and principles are devotedly observed. In secular societies however where sense of a person as a responsible, rational and independent individual is promoted as a value, the concept of empowerment takes the centre place in curricula for all sorts of education and training programmes.

True empowerment, in my view is essentially self-empowerment. If a person is empowered within the parameters of given social values then that person can function effectively and influentially.

A truly empowered person always seeks opportunities to empower others, for this is how it was done at the first place, and this is how the momentum is maintained. This is true that people can empower others – it is an ability to be shared. And so it is, ability. Yes, I believe true empowerment is an ability to empower others.

It is empowering our own *self* that is most difficult and meaningful.
Empowering others is a vain attempt. It is silly and unethical.
