IF YOU WERE IN CHARGE OF THE USA, what would you do?

What would you do or change (if anything at all) if you had supreme power over the States?

If I were in charge I would institute a flat tax. This would eliminate the IRS.Do your taxes on a post card. Then I would go through all current federal laws and lose all the ones that are obsolete rework the ones that are good so that they were better and more specific. The next thing I would do is make sure that we were really following the constitution. In other words if the power belonged with the states I would return it to the states and the federal government would only do the things it was constitutionally supposed to do. I feel that states are much closer to the people than the federal government is and as such would do a better job of writing law for their residents.

Wow...spontaneously in charge today...just like that...with the rest of the administration still intact around me?

I would start hunting for geniuses...things are way too f'd up for me to fix this country!!

However, I do believe that if we put the 100 most intelligent people in the world into a room together and forbade them to talk about religion, they could figure out solutions to the world's big problems (not just the USA's problems), so I would definitely be hunting for geniuses.

Assuming I had the time, I'D try to re-invent it from the ground up, keeping the same spirit and underlying principals but combining them with modern viewpoints, concerns and technologies. I feel like we have patched existing systems together long enough and it's time to start fresh...........or not.Everyone must own a red tractor.
