The world of cricket has seen many a great fast bowlers. In the bgining it was just the speed but later when swing was invented we saw many lethal fast bowlers. Dennis Lillee and Geoff Thompson of Austalia , Andy Roberts and Michael Holding of West Indies, Bob Willis and Botham of England, Imran Khan and two Ws of Pakistan. But if you talk about greatest then to me Wasim Akram as a left hander and Glenn Magrath as a right hand speed merchant of Australia are the two greatest fast bowlers of any era.

There have been some great fast bowlers in the history of test cricket including;
Larwood,Tyson, Miller, Truman, Hadlee, Botham, Thompson, Holding, Marshall, McGrath, but the greatest is undoubtably
Dennis K Lillee his record speaks for itself
Tests 70
Wickets 355 ( A wicket every 52 balls bowled)
5 W/I 23x
10 W/M 7x
Av 23.92
Lillee could move the ball both ways in the air and off the pitch
He took wickets on all types of pitches.
After the stress fractures he developed what is probably the smoothest and purest run in and delivery action in history.
Lillee gets my vote with Harold Larwood coming in second

Jeff Thomson possibly bowled hundreds of balls which have been speedier than 100mph, yet he became purely timed for a pair of overs on some random day, think of if Shoaib Akhtar have been clocked for purely a pair of overs on a random Saturday afternoon in some unspecified time interior the destiny in his occupation, the result does not be lots of a demonstration of how briskly he became over a spell, a adventure, a chain or an entire occupation.

Wasim Akram. Because he had all the ingredients of a great fast bowler i.e, speed, accuracy, bounce, swing and devastating weapon of reverse swing. He is simply the best. He is unmatchable.

A very debatable question, and answers will vary depending on the generation to which the answerer belongs to. But here is a chance for everyone to say what he/ she personally feels without being booed---my choice is Glen Mc Grath.
