A delivery from a fast bowler which deceives the batsman in direction is called the reverse swing. The batsman judges the delivery from the delivering action of the bolwer whether its going to be an outswinger or an inswiinger but the delivery decives him and goes the other way. Pakistan fast bowler Sarfarz Nawaz is the inventor of this delivery and he later tranferred this art to Imran Khan who then to Wasim and Waqar and now a days no bolwer is considered a complete fast bowler if he does not know how to reverse swing the ball.

You know the way, when we're bowling a ball, that we an get it to spin left, or right? well the batsman watches for how we throw the ball to judge how it's going to spin [because a good bowler can get a lot of movement out of his ball]. So far the batsman thinks he knows what the ball's going to do, but when the ball has been used a fair bit the bowlers have rubbed up one side all nicely and so the ball flies differently owing to a difference of drag on the 'shiny' side, and so the batsman has no clue whether it will go left or right. That makes it easier to get him out
