The other day, a co-worker and I were discussing how we had gotten an AIDS test. Another co-worker joined in but looked at us like we were freaks. I really don't see what's wrong with getting tested. It only takes having sex with one person to catch it....so why not be sure and get tested???

Good call baby. Nothing wrong with getting tested. There are some shady characters out there. Its important to get tested. I would suggest getting tested twice a year if you can. Remember there is like a six month grace period that is not detective. So if you got tested today, most likely it wont cover the six months prior to today. Its good you are getting the message out to people. I think some may be embarrassed to go into a clinic.

Yes, I've been tested for HIV/AIDS before surgery and donating blood. There is nothing wrong with getting tested for any reason, and more people should do so. Just ignore the clueless co-worker!

Nope. But then, I've never had sex, either... I fully recommend getting an AIDS test to everyone who's sexually active. A lot of people believe that getting and AIDS test indicates that you've been extremely promiscuous or gay, so that could be why your coworker looked at you funny. A lot of people are clearly uneducated idiots, though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Tested? Yes.
Tested again, Yes.
Scheduled to be tested in the future? Why not?
It's just good practice for someone who is sexually active in today's society to take care of their sexual health.

What's wrong with knowing what's going on (or NOT going on) with your body? I think it's rather ignorant to medically look the other way when we can help save lives with the knowledge provided from a simple test.

What exactly DOESN'T make sense about being tested?

DAMN.

I get tested every three months, I give blood on a regular basis and they test it every time. I think it's great you are getting yourselves tested but protection is the key because if you get tested and it's positive you can prevent spreading it any further but you are still infected. Kudos to you both for getting tested though.
