Run "Disk Cleanup" and clear all unwanted files. Run "Defragment" to rearrange all files on drive.

The drive showing activity during no usage would mean a spyware or trojan on the drive trying to acces it's master, install and run SpySweeper after taking all updates. The trial version will do a good job.

Upgrade the RAM as mentioned earlier to get a marginal better speed. If the motherboard supports then try to get a faster processor.

*EDIT* AdAware sucks, use SpySweeper it way better at detecting trojans and keyloggers.
Defragmenting is simple - Start > Programs > Acessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter > select drive

go to www.HP.com and look for the tech help link. HP offers free service (email) for even out of warranty products. Provide them with the model no., serial no. and state your problem. You will get an email reply and the same tech will stick with you until the problem is solved. You may have to email back and forth several times as you try their suggestions and report the results.

This may happen due to many reasons. Try deleting temp files. Try to increase the free space in the partion where the OS is installed. If you have less ram increase it.

Maybe your pc is old ... It might not be able to handle the video games ... beside you might need a real good VGA card to support the games ... check if your hard disk is full ... if something is wrong with your OS .. try to reinstall it or format your pc ..

I think your computer run out of space. The memory and the hard disk.

The RAM.

It also can be occur if your computer is affected bu spyware.

I suggest that you use spysweeper program. it is available for free on the website itself

upgrade ram. try deleting programs you dont use. sometimes when the hard drive is all filled up, it takes longer to pull up files. ram helps increase the amount available to be pulled from.
