Just wanted some input, since my friend gave me some Reebok 9k skates which are about 600 dollars out here in california. Anyway i already have some CCM 692 which i have no complaints about. I'm already one of the fastest skaters in the league with mediocre skates, i'm wondering will these Reeboks make a huge difference or should i just ebay them and get some extra cash.

EBay them and get some cash. Maybe someone who doesn't know hockey will buy the Reebock b.s. and give you lots of $$$$$. Everybody knows that CCM makes a better skate. Take your EBay $, add to it and get a better, new CCM.
My FIRST pair of skates --that weren't hand me downs from my awful brother - were CCM Professionals. They cost $125.00 in 1967!! I thought my father was going to have heart failure THEN - instead of 40 years later.
There are so many skate companies now, it's hard to tell, you have to try them on and really give them as much of a try as they'll let you.
Trick my brother used -and he went Ivy League on a Hockey scholarship and traveled all over the U.S., Canada and Western Europe - he went to the Buffalo Sabres and talked to a guy who had the same kind of style that he did. He was tall, slender and fast - a left winger (as was I). This guy ended up GIVING him about 4 pair of skates, shoulder pads, knee pads, elbow pads and a ton of sticks. Brother got skates that were already just a tad broken in - no blisters - all the pro protective gear and so many sticks I don't think we ever had to buy another one.
If you're not in a city with a NHL team or AHL team, e-mail the player who resembles you the most and ask for his recommendation. OR - also - check out the best hockey equipment stores in Canada. They're out West now too - you
don't have to come to Toronto or Montreal. Those were the old days - all our guys went to St. Catharines.
Good Luck!

my son and i find that comfort adds to your skating ability but cheap skates tend to break as in the blade holders on my son's tacks he is now using Bauer vapour x-lites and says they are the most comfortable skates he's used they cost about 250 can i have an old pair of ccms i like however my son is only playing bantam so i can't speak for any semi pro or rep team he only plays for fun which to me is the whole point by the way to brag a bit he scored 6 goals in a game last year skates like the wind but has been taking power skating courses since he was 6

When I upgraded from my old Pantera skates that were falling apart and moved into a $150 pair of CCM 492s, I went from being one of the slowest skaters in my league to middle of the road.

In your case, you already have some good skates, so it won't turn you into Apolo Ohno or anything.

I think that it may have more to do with how the skates are sharpened than the actual skate. True, different skates suit different styles (I play Bauer Vapors because they're light), but getting the right grind on your edge makes a huge difference in friction, hard acceleration, and hard stopping.

A lot of the Reebok equipment is poor qaulity , I do not think the skates will last so ditch em.Bauer Vapours are suppose to be excellent.

It's up to personal taste. Weight of the skate makes a little difference, but it's all about what feels better. Think of what your friend would think if you ebay'd his gift though. Probably would say something like, "if I'da known you were going to ebay them, I would have done it myself and kept the cash."

yes. if you try to learn to skate in sucky skates, you wont do that well, because the skates suck.

however, if you learn in a good, sturdy pair of skates, it will help your chances of getting better
