It makes money for the country and the locale where it's held.
It raises the prestige of the country in which it's held.
Sports show are very popular.
Americans like it when their teams win.


Con:
It's extremely costly to build the facilities for the sports events.
The money often is not recouped through tourism or news coverage.
International sports events have become shows that no one is interested in anymore.
