HELLO. First off, you can get AIDS from a spouse or even a parent, and you can always get effected through blood. You can get raped or not have sex alot but get it from someone who doesnt tell you.

Why are people with AIDS suddenly evil? What about prostitutes in Africa who have to sell themselves to SURVIVE? What about faithful people whose spouses gave them the disease?

I'd really like to hear what you conservative bible thumpers have to say about that. Give me one, good, LOGICAL reason.

Emphasis on the logical.

AIDS is associated with those things because back when it was first discovered, the majority [note: not all] of people who developed AIDS were people who had unprotected sex, often with persons other than their partners. Many of these people in America were homosexuals - mostly because they were indeed having a lot more unprotected sex than their heterosexual partners. Another problem with AIDS when it was first discovered was that there was a lot of unsterile needle usage from people doing drugs.

All of these activies are generally considered immoral by most conservatives, and even today, dangerous, at the very least.

Today, the majority of people on earth with AIDS are still people who have unprotected sex, but it IS in regions like Africa, where basic protections like condoms are less available, and things like blood transfusions and other medical procedures are done without sterility. The majority of Americans with it are still people having unprotected sex, but the rates are generally declining as people have become more aware of the dangers involved.

I've heard few rational beings, conservative "bible thumpers" or not, say that people with AIDS are evil. Many people, however, especially of older generations, do still believe that AIDS is the devil's disease, because way back then, gay men had the largest AIDS population in the US. It's not true now, as we've seen the disease grow, and people have become more aware, but some people believe only the first things they ever hear about a problem, and refuse to change their minds.

But that's why it's often associated with it. Because most people with AIDS don't get it from their faithful spouses, unless there's been some adultry on one side or another. Most people don't get it from their parents when they're born, or even from blood transfusions, though there's plenty of cases for it. Most people today, in the US at least, get it from unprotected sex. Worldwide, most contract it from unprotected sex and unsterile medical conditions.

AIDS is a terrible thing. The people who contract it are by no means villified by the vast majority of people. The ones who say otherwise tend to be in the minority, though that minority tends to be quite vocal. But AIDS has its reputation based on historical fact. While you can certain contract AIDS from various innocent sources - and many people do - remember that the majority of people in the world get it through unprotected sex. Until we educate the populations here and abroad on the dangers of this and of using unsterile needles, and the need to be tested to see if you have the disease, the disease will still probably always carry a bit of a bad reputation.

Educate those who do not know. Remind them to use condoms with partners they haven't seen test results for, and encourage people not to take stupid risks. Donate to foundations trying to stop the spread of the disease in poor countries, where it runs rampant. Don't criticize all conservatives for something a vocal few have said.

I'm not conservative, or Christian, but I know why AIDS has a bad reputation. I, too, would like to see it changed, but remember the truth - most people get AIDS through unprotected sex. While in some places in the world it's because condoms and education are lacking, in the US, it's generally because someone was stupid, somewhere down the line. I sympathise for every single one of them. I hope we find a cure in my lifetime. I'm glad to see the rates in the US declining, and sad that the rates worldwide and rising so fast. Education is the only thing that will slow down this disease. Let's try to make it happen.

Well, the immorality comes from the fact (yes, fact) that if everyone was totally faithful to their life partner (hetro or homo doesnt matter) aids would not have been as widespread as it is. That would leave only transmission by a parent giving birth to a child or blood transfusion/infection as a way to transmit and that is less than 3 percent of cases.
That's the immoral part, people having sex with others not married or life partners. In other words, casual sex.

The homosexuality part comes from that is how the aids virus entered this country, and that's how (for the most part) it was spread. Fact: Patient Zero was traced from Canada to a gay bath house in California

Prostitutes in Africa? Back to being immoral. Most people view prostitution as immoral. Is this logical when Nevada has legal brothels? Perhaps not, but people are the leading experts on their opinions.

I'm not a "thumper." However, the spread of AIDS, as well as STDs involves issues of "morality." Anyone who has an STD, and who knows they have it, and continues to have sex (or share needles, or indulge in any type of behavior that can cause the spread of the disease) is acting immorally, if not illegally. The association of AIDS and homosexuality comes about because of the unusually high incidence of the disease among homosexuals, who are more likely to engage in multiple-partner trysts than heterosexuals (aka promiscuity).

One good logical answer?
Prostitutes are sinners.Don't you believe there is other work for these women.
Faithful people whose spouse gave it them, the spouse is immoral.
Honey all the forms you mentioned above are sins even the donors of the blood transfusions are sinners,if they had the aids.
If you would thump your Bible you would have your answer to this question.
The innocent usually suffer from the wrong doing of the immoral. That is why we should study and follow the word of God,raise our children in the same manner in hopes that all will live the same and the immorality can stop or aleast come to a minimum.
I believe AIDS is form of punishment to bring the world to a wakening of our evilness,in hopes that we will turn once again to God for all our needs, instead to the pleasures of our flesh.
The pleasure of our flesh should be kept between a husband and wife.

It may have to do with the fact that AIDS first came into prominence in the USA in the gay communities. The Church and society in general have always viewed the gay community as being immoral, promiscuous and as a result, evil. AIDS was touted in some circles as the punishement God had devised to punish gays. As a result the perception arose that AIDS was a disease contracted by people who were equally promiscous and immoral regardless of the circumstances surrounding the infection. So whether you were infected by blood received through a transfusion (and you are not gay) after an accident, of whether you were infected by unprotected sex - if you have AIDS, you are evil.

There is also a lot of fear and plenty of miseducation abounding about AIDS, resulting in people being fearful of those who have AIDS and subsequently marginilising and astrocising them to protect their ideals of a pure, clean, moral society.

I am a flabing liberal but to answer your question bluntly

Because homosexual and promiscuous people have HIGHER rates of AIDS. And many think it is immoral to knowingly spread AIDS, which happens a LOT, among gays and promiscuous people.

People don't think AIDS is evil. It is just a sad, horrible and terrifying disease that everybody wants stopped. There is so much we could be doing to stop this epidemeic; education the most important. People don't choose to get AIDS but they choose to engage in the behavior that ends up getting it.

as a "conservative bible thumpers", aids does not make a person evil, and most good Christians agree, but you named the exceptions not the rule, the majority of people suffering from aids transmitted it through sex or intravenous drug use. The closest scientific thing to a religious sin might be engaging in BEHAVIOR that has been proven to be PHYSICALLY HARMFUL such as smoking, overeating, under exercising, excessive drinking of alcohol and engaging in promiscuous sex. Each of these activities has been proven to lead FREQUENTLY to a DISEASE STATE, and most of us engage in one or more of these "BIOLOGICAL SINS" to some degree (guess which one(s) I do?). To the degree that homosexuals, particularly the males, engage in promiscuous, unsafe sex, they contribute significantly to the spread of the HIV virus. Basically, the MAJORITY of aids sufferers have engaged in some form of unhealthy behavior, but of course there are exceptions to every rule and I'm sorry but simply pointing out those exceptions does not make you righteous

It is viewed that way because the first publisized cases in America were homosexual men. Since Americans are, in general, followers most believed it was punishment for what they were doing. AIDS originally came from animals and was first thought to only be transmited sexually, so you can see the implications there. Today the epidemic is so widespread that it doesn't matter anymore, but some people still remember it's beginings.

AIDS is viewed by many as a preventable disease. If you use condoms, you can do all the perverted stuff you want and you most likely won't get the disease. Change needles every time you shoot up, and you can be a junkie and not get the disease. Nowadays I think the prevailing attitude is 'you have to be careless or stupid to get AIDS' So there is less sympathy, plus it isn't usually a fatal disease anymore if you get treatment.
