There are very few if any left. The good traditional hard man has been driven out of the game and I think its worse for it. I was brought up on Billy Bremner, Norman Hunter then later David Batty, Vinnie Jones. I'd have to go for Rooney, very physical and he is most likely to throw a punch. Shaun Derry at Leeds is a good physical midfielder

I will not mention violent player`s. but I will say WAYNE ROONEY IS NOT VIOLENT. It`s a good job nearly all of you lot, on here are young, because if you were not, you would know what violent players there used to be. They make`s today`s player`s seem like kitten`s

Michael Essien - talented player no doubt, but also a sneeky, dirty, fouling little git!

Have you seen some of the horrendous tackles he has put in (Dietmar Hamman, bloke from Bolton Wanderers) yet got away with?

He also has the habit of waving imaginary yellow cards, gesturing to the referee to get players sent off. But he will get his comeuppance one day soon. A referee will give him the red card for a shocking challenge, or some big hairy hardnut will 'do' him in the corner flag in the 90th minute!

Paolo DiCanio in the Serie A (he's a right nutcase)

Past violent players include Cantona and of xourse Zizou (irrespective of whether he was rigt or wrong to headbutt Materazzi)

If you include both men and women players, the South Korean women's team (coz they threatened the referee and one of the players threw a bottle at the crowd) would come close to the top of my list
