Good question. My husband and I are stationed in Germany currently, and a couple of (ex) friends of ours told us about when they went to eat at Pizza Hut in Kaiserslautern, and the husband refused to eat his pizza with a fork. Plus he was being loud and obnoxious, and all these Germans were just STARING at him. Eating with one's hands in some parts of Europe: MAJOR faux pas.
To be honest, I've always wondered why some Americans don't bother learning the cultural differences when they go to a foreign country. Many people, when they visit the US, try to learn as much as they can of the language, and the culture. We should show them the same respect. Many of us don't, though.
I don't know why. I just understand your frustration. I see those people and they shock me...we've been a guest in this country for nearly two years, and I've been trying to learn German (es ist sehr schwierig!) as much as I can. I don't want to be one of those people who doesn't even TRY to respect another culture.
Some of us do try, really we do!

I do agree with you partly. Americans can be too loud and seem arrogant. It bothers me some as well. I have not seen signs at guest houses and hotels that say no Americans allowed. There is one nation that many places do have signs up telling them they are not allowed. Even many that do not have signs will after seeing their passports tell them sorry we are full at this time. I also know that there are a few places that when they know it is an American they will be told the place is full. Not very often though. I have seen this only in extreme Islamic places. I noticed you used the word Jew in you ID. Like it or not it is people from Israel that are bared and disliked nearly all over the world. Many tourist areas have special guest houses for people from Israel to keep them away from others and together. For a long time I did not believe this should be allowed. After spending a lot of years seeing different nations and peoples I know now that they are correct and it is people from Israel that are the most trouble when they travel abroad. I am not picking on the people from Israel. I am stating a fact.

I think that if the Americans firstly sorted themselves out fully, this means racism, poverty, illegal immigration, etc. then maybe "America" would be justified in giving advice, notice only advice.
Because at the end of the day, change within a country is produce by the country's citizens not by others coming on and attempting to force people to change, this just has far too many negative side effects it's worse to the country then what was originally in place.

Not all of us do. The ones that are obnoxious are the ones that get all the attention. We had a German kid in the neighborhood who was a loud pain in the butt... CONSTANTLY, but I don't say that all Germans are that way.
Not all Americans are flag-waving, super "patriotic" @ssholes! I'm generally ashamed of the way my country (many of them) thinks they are the best in the world... We're not all like this and please take that into consideration. I was raised to be kind and respectful of all people... and respect doesn't include being loud and obnoxious.
Calm down, take a deep breath and count to 10. There's some good ones here, we just don't make it on TV. Or care.

I live in Europe and promise I'm not pro-american, but I have a lot of American friends, already living here and some coming to visit sometimes. They are not like described, and are very polite persons and respectful. This had to be said.
Maybe I've the chance to know the right ones, I don't know...

This is applicable to anyone in a foreign land. When you get to America you can shout and scream. Nobody will stop you.
About the American in your place who is talking too loud and proud, you can tell him to speak a little softly. Tell him a little bit about your culture and he will learn.
Any visitor or tourist brings revenue into the country. So don't kick him out except for legal or political reasons.

What is your deal? Not all Americans are like that. As a matter of fact I grew up overseas and never acted like that. You have some serious issues if all you do at night is sit on the computer and bash Americans! I can't even believe I'm responding to such an arrogant question...

Why do you represent the same arrogance and disrespect you claim to hate?
You are a hypocrite, as your name suggests.
LMFAO at this guy:
after we "bombed all their buildings" (which we didn't... dumbass)
and killed all their women and children (which, again, we didn't)
toppled their regime,
captured their dictator,
imposed a new interim government,
allowed the citizens to vote on a new government after that,
Iraq gets a new constitution,
tens of thousands of enemy combatants from Iraq and outside of Iraq are killed,
The Ba'athists and Saddam loyalists are completely crippled,
The Al Qaeda leader in Iraq is killed,
Uday and Qusay (Saddams heirs) are killed,
the old networks are almost totally destroyed,
the oil fields are captured and handed over to the Iraqi civilians,
new infrastructure, power, water, phone, internet, sattelite TV, roads, sewers, and government buildings, hospitals, and schools are built all across the nation,
and we are beginning to train the new Iraqi security forces as we withdraw our troops,
You're right... we didn't accomplish ANYTHING
What an incomprehensibly futile, ignorant f*ck you are.

In "Stupid White Men" and "Bowling For Colombine", Michael Moore introduced millions of readers and moviegoers worldwide to some of America's ills: guns, corrupt politicians, fearful citizens, unchecked corporations, crumbling social services. These are big problems for a nation that plays such a dominating international role.
Understanding them is one thing, but what can be done to fix them?
In his unpublished manuscript, The IHO Syndrome, Julien Ninio suggests the best way to understand America's ailments is to study their symptoms, in the same way a doctor examines a patient - and that the diagnosis is of a disease that can be cured by both Americans and non-Americans.
