It stalls for no reason, but usually only in first gear. It revs when its in idle. I've had the cyclinder resurfaced with new head bolts and new gasket put in. Also, a new upper hose was put in. Every time I bring it to the mechanic it doesn't act up, but when I take it back, it stalls or lurches when stopped at a red light. Any ideas?

People have been guessing...fuel injection? top and bottom gear not aligned, timing belt? I just dont know!

Sounds like you may have a transmission problem. The linkages are not set correctly and the car is not judging the speed properly. Or it could be time for fuel injector cleaner as if the injectors are clogged from bad gas, when the vehicle is not traveling at high speeds, it is likely that the gunk in the injectors is not allowing gas to pass through to the engine and while in idle, it would rev as it needs to work harder to get the gas flowing

Get it serviced from a Hyundai center. I'm guessing the carburator is not clean, or there's some problem with the accelarator cable. Try revving it up for a few mins B4 you take it on a ride.

It could be that you're using cheap gas and your car does not take nicely to it. Switch from regular to premium and wait a few days to see if it stops acting up.

Other than that, it could be your car's computer that damaged and so you might need to replace that.

GOOD LUCK!
