It isn't most Americans or AmeriKans as you so Germanically spell it. The fact is the world looks to the US for technology, medical breakthroughs, the best scientists, Armed Forces, Doctors, Nurses, entertainment, judicial system, democracy, everything that other countries lack. And there was a time when we were admired and revered for our abilities. We have always been the first person in line to hand out money, volunteers, technology, research, medicine, etc in a dire situation (earthquakes, Tsunami, bombings etc) It wasn't until recently that we've been, umm, not as effective as we used to be, given current situations at home. Certainly no one gave us this "right" to be the world police, and I truly believe that the better option would be for us to bow out of that endeavor, but as much as you "think" you don't like AmeriKA involved in everyones business, I can only imagine the chaos, anarchy and violence that would ensue if the US were taken out of the picture entirely SO, I would ask that you look at the alternatives, and if "AmeriKa" wasn't involved in some way (take the Mid-East out of the equation for this argument's sake) what would have been the outcome? Right now I don't agree with our current administration or leaders but I would defy you to look at any other country and see how their generosity compares to the US. I don't know where you're from, but my inclination is that if you would crack open a book, there was probably a time where the U.S. saved your patootie. Either way, the beauty of the whole deal is that no matter how much we have done for you or to you, you still get to complain without repurcussions. Even if one is incapable of spelling a huge word like "you" and have to revert to the pre-elementary school vernacular So U can Dis AmeriKans!

Ya should'nt confuse Americans with the American government. Much of it stems from the need to "fight the enemy on foreign shores" lest we fight him on our own. It's a bona-fide neccessity that's sometimes used as an excuse by over-zealous or self-indulgent presidents. The other cause is the example Hitler gave. There were other factors, but one of the biggies was the isolationist sentiment of the U.S. at the time. We had the attitude "It's Europe's problem, so let Europe deal with it" Had the U.S. sentiment been different. Had we defended our allies/friends, earlier, history would be much different. That example is part of why our government has such an aggresive foreign policy. Small problems can become BIG problems.

Because we have the biggest guns....is this what you want to hear? You spell America disrespectful.

America was founded on good principal, hard fighting and great ethics. Once established, America, was the place to be...

Whether we were the inventors of something or it was across the pond, we made use of good....

We quickly established ourselves as leaders. This leadership status continued until the 1990's, but for some reason a breakdown began to happen...

It continued and drug into the Bush presidency. Critics, liberals and yuppies have run abroad during this presidency. They utilize their Post and Observer stages....never thinking that there are free thinking Times readers!!!! Gasp....

and in 2006.....Bush is still the right man for the job...

I wish we would stop. I think it would be entertaining to get out of the rest of the world and watch as you slowly kill each other off. No more millions to Africa to stop the starvation and disease, leave Bosnia and let the Serbs go back to wiping out the Muslims there, Leave the middle East and watch the Shiites and Sunnis and Kurds fight it out, Hamas and the PLO have been shooting each other, no more millions to the Palestinians every year. No more aid to Turkey, Mexico and South America for their earthquakes, no more spending billions to save people from the next Tsunami, get out of South Korea and let the little fellow in the North take it back and make it one country again and starve all of them instead of just half. Let Iran get to bold and watch Israel wipe them off the map, Pull out of NATO and the UN and watch them fold. Let the Taliban take back Afghanistan and kill women that go to school or claim to have been raped. Let Germany have France back, The Chinese fight Taiwan. Put up a 50 ft fence around our borders to keep the Mexicans in Mexico, and watch them starve too. If the Iraqi's doesn't kill themselves off Iran can try to finish it again. Everyone says we are only in the Middle East for oil, well, we stay away from the rest of the world and we won't need near as much oil, wouldn't that make OPEC happy! No more letting people from all over the world come here to go to college or learn in our hospitals. Be more entertaining than Monday night Football! But once we do that the next time someone kills thousands of our people we just completly annilate their whole country

Just some of the reasons you needed America to come save your @ss. It's called murderous brutal dictators roving the planet picking on poor defenseless people.

If you were ever trapped in your house and a gang of criminals were breaking in, who would you call, the police or the ACLU?

I think it's a compliment to be called a policeman.

Why don't you really insult me and call me a hero?

Bunch of prejudiced racist intolerant illiterate punks with computers which run on American made software.

You are pathetic.

When many of our US soldiers died violently in overseas battles during WW 1 and WW 2, that's when we were given the right to be the world's policemen. Dropping the Atomic bomb on Japan, which ended WW 2, pretty much sealed our title as world police.

Most Americans don't it's just a few and they try and police other Americans too. You do know that in a lot of cases in the past America was asked for help, not in the Iraq situation that was the Bush administration overstepping their authority.

The Project for the New American Century, or PNAC, is a Washington-based think tank created in 1997. Above all else, PNAC desires and demands one thing: The establishment of a global American empire to bend the will of all nations. They chafe at the idea that the United States, the last remaining superpower, does not do more by way of economic and military
force to bring the rest of the world under the umbrella of a new
socio-economic Pax Americana.

The fundamental essence of PNAC's ideology can be found in a White Paper produced in September of 2000 entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses:
Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century." In it, PNAC outlines what is required of America to create the global empire they envision. According to PNAC, America must:

* Reposition permanently based forces to Southern Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East;
* Modernize U.S. forces, including enhancing our fighter aircraft, submarine and surface fleet capabilities;
* Develop and deploy a global missile defense system, and develop a strategic dominance of space;
* Control the "International Commons" of cyberspace;
* Increase defense spending to a minimum of 3.8 percent of gross domestic product, up from the 3 percent currently spent.

Most ominously, this PNAC document described four "Core Missions" for the American military. The two central requirements are for American forces to "fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major theater wars," and to "perform the 'constabulary' duties associated with shaping the security environment in critical regions." Note well that PNAC does not want America to be prepared to fight simultaneous major wars. That is old school. In order to bring this plan to fruition, the military must fight these wars one way or the other to establish American dominance for all to see.

Well, since they have the most powerful army, and they are present everywhere, only they are capable of the task. Besides, don't forget what happened in Yugoslavia during Clinton.

However, I disagree with this policy.

No one.

Do not mistake a people for a corrupt administration

Stop begging the US to "Save you" every time something goes wrong. Solve it yourselves or insure that aid is a world effort.

If the US wasn't involved you'd all be killing each other off instead.

I really hate my tax dollars going toward messing about in other people's politics or supporting rich people when me friends can't even get medical assistance when they need it.
