In To Have and Have Not why does Lauren Bacall constantly call Bogart "Steve"?

It wasn't his name or the name of the character. Some private joke, maybe. Does anybody know. Or I'm I just imagining that memory? Maybe I'm more senile than I thought.

the characters name is Harry 'Steve' Morgan. I am assuming it was some sort of nickname.

probably to piss him off the way he was calling her "kid" The name, "Steve" was probably the "Dick" of his day
