If you are fresh and relaxed or just the opposite, very tired and stressed, it is normal that you can not sleep.
Don't force yourself to anything. Put a program in your life, that is wake up and go to bed at the same time every day allowing at least 16 hours between the two.
If you are stressed, try to think of something nice and happy like buying the house of your dreams, furnish and fabrish it or your next vacations or the ideal guy to spend your life with or whatever might give you pleasure and happiness... In bed try to read something or watch TV.
If nothing works, stand up and do something that pleases you -except visiting the refrigerator-.
When your body will need sleep, it will get it on its own!

You know, I ask myself the same question all the time. I suffer from severe insomnia. I'm just thankful that I don't have to get up early in the mornings to be anywhere. I fall asleep somewhere around 5:30am if I don't take something to make me sleep, then I'm back up by 9am, then I end up feeling drowsy around 3pm and after about a 30 min nap I'm back up again. It really sux because I can't force myself to sleep. I'm going to talk to my doc about it because the past two nights I've taken my inlaws klonapin and flexerils.

I suffer from insomnia. Right now it's 4:02 AM. Lavender works, the scent of it. So does warm milk, sleeping pills, or a certain kind of tea. I feel like staying up, so...you could stay up and then set your alarm earlier, too.

you cant force your body to do anything. If you arent tired then there is no way to make yourself sleepy. Tryin laying in the bed for a while and if that doesnt work..then just stay up

You will eventually sleep. I work 6pm-6am. I couldn't sleep yesterday hardly at all. I'm feeling it tonight. I'm thinking I will have no problem tomorrow sleeping.
