If you have Adobe Acrobat installed (full version not reader) then you should have Acrobat Distiller available. If thats the case then open the word document in Word and print to Acrobat Distiller(change printer to Acrobat Distiller) It will conver the doc in pdf
If you dont have Adobe Acrobat then use this free converter

One very easy way to do this is with openoffice. (http://www.openoffice.org) It's free, opens MS Word documents and comes standard with an option to save/print to PDF
