If you want easy to read, involving story lines try Armistead Maupin and his 'Tales of the City' series of books....totally engaging and absolutely fab!

Jeanette Winterson has got to be one of the most lyrically beautiful writers i've ever had the pleasure of reading...her stuff is just lovely...so well written...almost other wordly!

I've read a couple of those lesbian erotica complations of short stories, but found they can be very hit or miss with regards to appealing to my personal tastes and turn-ons, although you can find the odd gem of a story in those kind of books ;-)

Some of the sexiest, steamiest and downright smuttiest lesbian erotica i've read was actually Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanfiction posted on the internet (see the link). It focused on the characters Willow and Tara and was written by a writer called Tommo.....i read it a couple of years ago now but believe me it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (if you like that kinda thing) ;-)

E.M Forster is a brilliant author. I like Tales of the City but don't really think Armistead Maupin is a great writer. John Rechy's work was ground breaking.

I like Jenny Roberts, Sandra Scoppettone and Stella Duffy for their crime stories. In a very different style Cy Young (French writer) is very good :-)
