With the use of command prompt, is it safe to use these commands:
ipconfig/ release
ipconfig/ renew

A call center agent instructed me to do the such commands when my connection got lost and it worked.

What can they do and when can we use such commands...

they are safe to use, dont worry.
ipconfig/release means you discard the ip address given to you by the dhcp server, while ipconfig/renew means you are asking for a new ipconfig in replace with th eone you discard. these commands are commonly used when ip address confilct occurs, you cant connect to server, or internet. thanks to call center agent....

It's the correct way, so don't worry. It commands the computer to search for the IP addresses, and it is the correct protocal.

They just renew your IP Address, and you can use them whenever you want.
