The disadvantage of sex education in the schools is simply this: It's not the schools right or responsibility to educate children regarding sexual issues! Schools need to stick to the basics, reading, writing, math, basic science and history. It's none of their business to teach children about sex. That is the parents job. One reason why we home school!

I personally do not see disadvantages of sex education in school, but if you are being asked to debate it on the opposing side I can think of some ideas.
Some people think that sex education in school supersedes parental responsibility and that by teaching safe sex practices certain religious beliefs are denounced since most religions teach abstinence before marriage.
Also, some people think that sex education in school makes it more likely for teenagers to engage in sex, especially safe sex because it eliminates the fear of consequences from sexual activity.

We had a sex education class in 7th grade and till this day i still remember what a penis with herpes look like. I recall seeing the breakout on the lips and our entire class looked in disgust. I also remember the teacher answering one of the student questions which was, Can you get pregnant if the boy pulls out in time?" The answer made one of our classmates cry and like the next month she was pregnant in the 7th grade.
The class also freaked me in a bad way because after we had the class, like if a bump appear on my private from a ingrown hair, I panicked and wouldn't tell my mom because I did not want her to accuse me of having sex when I wasn't. So that cut communication of really important talks I should have had with my mom.
Sex education freak the hell out of me in a good way because it made stay a virgin until I was 19 and then I still was like I need to see the penis, do an inspection, and get it tested. Sex education also taught me how not to sleep with everything with two legs. So my first is now my husband and that's all I know.
It was beneficial because the teenagers I work with now have the same questions so I scare the hell out of them by showing them a diseased penis. I just keep in mind to answer all the questions I know I had.

That's a loaded question. I don't really see any disadvantages. Children need to be educated about sex these days before they learn it the wrong way - from their peers.
If you just need a counterpoint you could argue that it may be against the religious convictions of some families.

I really can't think of any disadvantages if you teach it. Although, I can think of disadvantages if you don't teach it, such as a higher rate of teen pregnancy, teens not using protection as often or know how to use it correctly, teens contracting more diseases, and so on. Some of these consequences may lead to many students deciding to drop out of school. There are many parents who don't bother to teach their kids about sex or they may not be as accurate as a teacher may be.

there are no disadvantages. do you remember your parents teaching you about sex? ewwwwwwwe. i think hearing the mechanics from a teacher makes it a whole lot more bearable. not to mention the health issues that come along w/sex. i'm glad they teach sex in schools.
