Workers put these camera like things sitting on tripods beside the street or infront of a building, whenever they're working on something (construction) what are they?

The camera-like thing is called Theodolite used by surviyor.It's an instrument used to set the accurate position of an object ,say for example a building ,on any con struction site.Where accurate presition is required that is when it's put into use.The technical name for it's usage is called setting out.

There are some other instrument used for the same purpose,among them are builder square ,tapes & peg,and atimes compass.For your information there some other proffessional in building industries that assist in the usage of this instrument apart from the surviyor whose major work is to operate the machines.Others are :Architect who designed the object to be positioned,Project engineer who supervise the entiety of the project from the beginining to the end.|
