In order for anyone to answer this question to the best of their abilities or requirements is to live outside the US to get a different perspective. I lived in Europe for three years and the interaction with Europeans really gave me a different viewpoint of my home country. Not necessarily good or bad, just different perspectives. If your ideal is a balmy tropical island with topless women all around, read National Geographic or go to a geographic location that provides this ideal. Which ones going to give you the truth about yourself?

Out of the ones I have been to it is my least favourite. I have been to Canada and the USA. The USA does have nice winters in the south and as a child my parents took me down to Florida for 3 months because they could not stand the Canadian weather. I actually prefer French movies, but I think it is more of a snob factor and the fact the French don't load up their movies with special effects. I think people think the best country in the world is the one they are born in. If you are white and Anglo speaking chances are the USA is the best country in the world for you. If you are not white and Anglo you will probably think differently.

Born and raised in America and no, I don't think it's the best country in the world. Then again, I think people would have different opinions on what the best country is.
Personally, I like Holland, Belgium and Germany.

America is a great country. Unfortunatly, the americans are ruining it lol

Trout, you shouldn't think the U.S. is the best country ever... I assure you in many ways than 1, it is NOT the best country.

I live in Texas.. in Houston-- and the illegals are making it look like Mexico. Aside from that, my government sucks.

But, lets go into this deeper, shall we? What "kind" of "best" are you looking for? Is it the people? The land? The weather? The government? lol The politics?

The latter two, are certainly out the window. This country is becoming majorly corrupt. It has been over the past 10 years.

But, now, lets take a traditional angle... You are Canadian, and I am American-- say Suzi is Irish, and Johnny is Yemenese.

Suzi and Johnny may think many opportunities exist in the U.S. and even Canada because for Suzi, Ireland is lacking many things. They are having aftershocks of Catholic/ Christian fighting. Things are slowly getting back to times-- she once never knew existed.

She knows the U.S. is a country full of wonderful people, however, she also knows many are not too great. However, Canada on the other hand, is magnificantly beautiful! The people and their French background in Quebec, and fortunately there is an opening for skills she is qualified for.

Johnny, he's been living in the Muslim world all his life. He has been tought to hate Americans for living freely, and believing in another God other than Allah. He definately doesn't think the people are great, but he may want to visit-- because, he's interested in mountain ranges and wants to set out for a solitary hike and learn to repel with a group.

Fine, he's made the sacrifice to let go of his hate for what people believe in, but he will be definately returning to Yemen, no doubt. He loves his family, his riches-- even though not much-- but it's his home.

Likewise, you in Canada. Canada from experience is very beautiful. I loved Canada.. From Victoria Island to Edmonton, to Yellowknife, up into Dawson, to Quebec and Toronto-- everything is just awesome! The mountains and the lands just seem to endlessly roll. Peaceful territory for sure!

But you and America-- you like the TV shows and the movies, the weather in the winter...but surely it's not the best!!

Even though I don't like my countries leaders-- or who stands behind it, I still respect my homeland. I respect it enough to have fought for it and here I sit disabled-- with many buddies, now American martyrs, for Bush's war on terror-- something he seems to smootch-- yet he can't seal the borders...

...Even though my country is insulted for everything that happens in this world, I love my country more than anything and am willing to die for her. Yes, I truly believe my country is the BEST of the BEST!!

And Canada? Should probably be the BEST of the BEST to you! Same goes for Johnny in Yemen, and though Suzi wants to migrate to another country, does not mean she will hate her former. Suzi loves Ireland, because that is home. That is where she was born and raised.

Suzi loves Ireland more than anything-- though it was nothing but a warzone. And so she should stay faithful to that country.. However, when migrating to another, you should note that that NEW country, is now equal to your last for giving you the chance to apply, to access it, and be apart of it's growing community.

There is no right or wrong to this question. The answer will be based off your opinion-- and so should be, as we all have different views.

Nothing wrong with that-- it's only humane. But, I would suspect, that a person from any given country should be that individuals BEST country, unless migrating to another-- than both shall be equally addressed in quality.

That may or may not be entirely true due to personal issues, etc.. but I think you get the point-- and so now I will shut up.

Of course, you probably believe that Canada is the best country. As an American, I'd have to disagree.

I believe the U.S. to be best. It's due to national pride. You should ALWAYS believe that your country is best. All others should pail in comparison.
