If it was a truly open question, I think 500 years would be a good long time - at least 250. Can you imagine being able to go to law school and medical school and then having a career as a dancer - and then when you are about 100, settle down and have kids and start your life as an Adult, as it were? The richness that might be achieved by living for millenium, like trees, to see how the World (not just our neighbors) evolves and grows. Time enough for love - Time enough for Everything!
Peace!

If you were to live forever, you would have to have an open mind. Think about it. Watching every turn of the century? you would have to roll with change, and that's something only open minded people do.

I want to live as long as my mind is still sharp, and my health is still good. When you loose your wits and health, it's time to move on.Your question sounds like you are surrounded by closed-minded people. Seems like you are not getting the acceptance and support that you need. If you're not, you need to change your surroundings, which may not be easy, but it is necessary if you want to live a long fulfilling life.

I don't want to be too old but I don't want to have major health issues that make me miserable. These days medical science have raised the bar at which this age is likely so I'm hoping to live that long, whatever that is for me.

lifetime is not up to how long YOU want to live.
you might get a disease or die in a traffic accident or some other thing beyond your control. live every day like it is your last on earth and you will attract people with open minds.
Good Luck

I wouldn't want to live past 80. I think that's old enough to have thoroughly experienced and enjoyed life. Beyond that, your health really starts to deteriorate and I just want to able to die remembering how full my life was and not how uncomfortable I was on a hospital bed.

I don't think I'd want to live past 60, because I really don't want to age the way my family tends to (quickly and painfully). However, if things go well, I might agree to stick around a little longer. :)

29, I have a great fear of getting old, and dying slowly. I figure if I die when I'm only 29, then I will probably die fast, like in a car accident or something.
