I'm Catholic, but many of my friends are of other religions. I have always been open to new ideas that don't really involve anything too bizarre or unhealthy, one of which including that of religious aspirations. But from any religion's background and stand point, is it wrong to try different religions? I find many good things in other religions, including the one religion I've grown up with, and I find many likes and a few dislikes about all of them. But what I've never been able to ensue is the answer to my question: Is it ok to try other religions? and at that rate, convert to other religions? can you tell me your opinion?

Not only is it okay....I believe it is a good idea.
You should make every attempt to gain perspective when it comes to spiritual beliefs. I did, and I believe I am a wiser person because of it.

Narrow minded Christians can create harm as well as good if they are not willing to accept that their God is supposed to care for everyone, and not just a select few.

Good luck with your search for understanding.

Religious conversion is simply exchanging one
delusion system for another. There is no reason
not to do it if you don't want to, other than the fact
that if your original religion also has temporal power you may be persecuted for doing so. The
theocracies of the world have always been tyrants,
check the Spanish Inquisition, for example or the
current conditions in Iran. Why do you need any
religion? Some people seem to think that without
religion there would be no morality, but it has been
demonstrated over and over that ethics and
morality can be developed in the absence of
religious belief.

Personally, and specially that i was raised on a variety of religions cause of the parents i don't think it is wrong to try another because it doesn't matter as long as you believe and practice what u believe even if it is from this religion and something else from another..its your faith and to be honest most religions comes to agreement that there is God and each religion have some differences but the base is the same..

What are you looking for in a religion? A wise prophet once said: "A religion that does not require the sacrifice of all things never has the power sufficient to produce faith necessary unto life and salvation." Our life is a search for the one true faith. If you are searching now then obviously your religion has not answered your deepest questions. Look further on and pray to God to lead you to that one true religion that will answer all your questions and give peace to your soul. All other religions are just counterfeit.

it is not ok to be closed minded, repressed and non experimental. try them all, don't be parochial. the far eastern religions are far more intriguing than the western ones for a lot of people. if you're so inclined, and you seem to be, go for it!. moreover try the *esoteric * versions of some. even christianity has such.. far removed from the usual bible thumping trivia that many consider the "true word". take a look at the book: *gnosis of the cosmic christ* for a different perspective. and check out http://www.sahajayoga.com for a whole new *experience* of the "sacred dimension".

Why change religion ??? Just take those positive good aspects of other religion people and try to implement in your daily life but slowly. There is ample time for good things to happen. Never haste in your life. Because it comes only once and whatever you have you should try to be satisfied with that.

If anyone is not happy in one religion, I doubt if he/she can be happy anywhere else. Being satisfied / happy is the state of mind and no religion can change that. But remembrance of that GOD can alone make that change happen in you.

All religions are saying the same thing, only from a different perspective. They all worship the same God. So it's fine to try whatever religion you like.

Be proud of yourself. You officially have your own mind. Use it. Never feel afraid or insecure of questioning religion. Religion is man made. God does not teach us to believe man. Interpret from all and use your good sense to filter it. God gave you a mind for this specific reason

i think it is OK to go to your friends chuches/temples, to ask questions, to read about them; learning is good. It will also help you learn more about the religion you were raised in.

I took several courses in religion in college for that reason.

If you find that one religion seems to address your life and your problems better, converting seems like the intelligent thing to do.

we have intelligence and free will; i think we should use it.

Religion is what people do when they want to find some truth to believe in. So explore all religions before you decide which one you think is most sincere.
