witch is better pentium D or core 2 duo or core duo and what is the difference

The Pentium D is based on the older Pentium 4 technology. It is called "D" because it is two Pentium 4 cores in one CPU chip.

The Pentium D's are nice, but like their Pentium 4 counterparts, they run hot and suck up a lot of power. In addition, an AMD Athlon X2 will outperform a similar priced Pentium D by a longshot.

The new Core 2 Duo is the future of Intel. It is based on the Pentium M, which was the mobile laptop CPU that's been out for a couple of years (you may have heard it called the Centrino). The Pentium M was upgraded to the Core Duo in the mobile world. The Core 2 Duo is the desktop version.

It outperforms anything AMD can throw at it right now. Best of all, it runs cooler and sucks up even less power than any other CPU out there, mainly because it is blazing fast at low speeds (a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo can easily crush a 3.6GHz P4).

I prefer Pentium D.
This will be your choice
Pentium D 950. And set the clock speed to 3.6 or even 3.8GHz. Pentium D runs cool and quiet.
