The war had ended the allies almost lost thier war against the tyranical and merciless nazis .....multiple millions were killed in the battle more were tortured gassed burned etc. The death toll of Russia alone was 25 million .
After the gas attacks of the first war the world was plunged once more into the broil by an ever more aggressive Germany 21 years later .
Sir Winston promised all of the world that Germany shall never again have an army and that they shall never again have the tools to disturb the peace of the world .....
Should that promise be forgotten? Is it out of date ? Should Germany have an Army ?

Germany's reunification should be an even bigger argument against them having an army . When divided in half they were patrolled and that promise of Sir WInston was enforced to the letter

Germany has an Army and a big one - They have a base in New Mexico giving the German army the ability to attack the US from within - They have never been a trustable entity with their military in the past and there is no reason to trust them now.
Sir Winston - warned and warned but no one listened they thought the Germans were "different" after the mustard gas attacks of the 1 st war - They weren't.
the De- nazification process was handed over to Germany less than 5 yrs after the war ended and it was handed to Nazis to do.
There is and has been acts of anti Semites the the German army and it's a matter of time before Germans start feeling the national pride they once did.
PM Margret Thatcher was largely ignored when she warned of a newly united Germany who has done nothing but bully it's economic and political might in regards to the EU .
Nothing has changed and Germans are armed better than ever before biding their time waiting. Read treason at Mastrich and realize that the EU is the same type of government Hitler wanted for Europe after the war - "You may believe that you have anchored Germany to Europe but in reality you have anchored Europe to an ever aggressive Germany and in the end you will find it won't work" Margret Thatcher
Germany has what it should not - military force at it's command

Dear trout, Germany has an army for nearly 60 years now, so your quote is definely outdated.
German soldiers are the biggest contingent in the ISAF-force currently stationed in Afghanistan to stabilize the country after most of the US troops left for Iraq. German naval forces patrol the red sea as a part of the "Enduring Freedom" operation, just to name two operations with German troops involved. If you want to abolish the German military like Roosevelt or Churchill then think about a draft in the US to replace the German soldiers there.
In the current situation in Lebanon, both sides - yes, also Israels prime minister Olmert - asked for German troops as a peacekeeping force, as the US has well and thouroughly trashed it's stance in the region and no Arab country would accept US peacekeepers.
So if even Jewish people, who have suffered terribly from German hands, ask for the German army to maintain peace, who thinks that the German army is a tool to disturb peace??
That shows how out of date this promise, you cited, is. With all respect to Roosevelt and Churchill, the world has changed a lot since their times.

Um, unless you forgot, or didn't attend history lessons...
after WWII Germany was divided between free europe(West Germany), and the communist regime(East Germany), which was empirically run with the heavy-hand of Russian backing. In the 80's all that was laid to waste by Germany destroying the Wall that seperated east from west. Now Germany stands as a new republic which is in essence a new Germany. Get over you hurt, it was a horrible past for everyone involved with Germany and the Germans themselves, but I'm pretty sure most if not all of the Nazis which you describe(not the German general public, and definitely NOT Germans of today) are gone and or dead, but not forgotten. If there is still anti-semitism and racial hatred, the entire WORLD has to share the blame for that. Germany has every right to protect itself...welcome to the 00's.

Your premise is incorrect. I am not sure of the accuracy of the "promise" that you say Churchill & Roosevelt made, but German does have a military force of about 250,000.

It would be much better if they had promised that their countries would never bring death to humanity.
