Yes.
There is evidence for the greatest of all ice ages, between 800 million and 600 million years ago at the end of the Pre-cambrian period. During this time, the entire earth may have been ice-covered.
Question for the Noahs-Ark crowd: What did the Chinese and Egyptian civilizations do during the Noachian period? In both of these countries, and also in others, we have an unbroken historical record stretching back well beyond the time of the flood, according to the Genesis chronology. (I'm supposing, of course, that the 40-days-and-40-nights people do place some store in the Genesis timing.)

The earth was formed and it was molten hot, it cooled down slowly when cooling hydrogen and oxegen mixed and water was formed this water started filling all the low lying area and it covered 78% of the land mass.
Water stopped forming after this because the water that formed evaparted and fell as rain back to the earth this made the earth surface cooler and the chemical reation of Hydrgen and Oxegen stopped. no more water was formed and the cycle of rain and vapour continued.
The fossils found in deserts or poles where now it is not under water is more because at some point of time or other it was under water but other areas which where coverd by water cleared to form land when this area was filled with water
since water quandity on earth will never change that is increase or decrease there is no chance of the whole of earth being under water at the same time.
Since many people have ans about naohs and bible I am putting in some of my thoughts
It is proved that sizes mentioned in the bible of noahs ark never worked. During Bible time people thought that earth was flat and the flood might have happened in those place only and not other places and people were ignorant of other places that had diff civilisation like meopotamia, Egiptian, indus valley, chinese,.
World oldest human fossil was found in Jawa but recently in china they have found even older fossil of humans. So there were people before biblical time too.

Most likely. There is fossil evidence everywhere from pole to pole. Why are there rain water indentions on the top of the sphinx in the middle of a desert? Perhaps it's from the flood in Genesis 6 featuring Noah's arc... Also, in Genesis 1 when it says:
"First God made heaven & earth 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light"; "
"...over the face of the waters." Might be a clue too.

No one knows for sure, becuse if it did happen, no humans were around back then to record it. Fossil records, however, show periods of time when a lot of the earth (over 90%, in fact) was indeed covered with water at one time.

i dont see how it could have been, since we still have a lot of ice, and water expands when it becomes frozen so even if all the ice melted, it would take up less room as water, unless of course at some time the earth was struck by an object large enough to sling a lot of the water away from the planet into space. it seems that i once read about another planet that was once in our solar system called Marduk, that was somehow destoyed and a big chunk of it hit the earth....

According to archealogists .....NO ... the great flood referred to in the Bible did not cover the entire earth. The great flood did however cover a vast amount of the Nile Delta and the Meditteranean areas.
There are more land masses that have no indication of ever being underwater than there are land masses that show evidence of being submariner areas now above sea levels.
The Ark was built according to the Bible specifications and it rolled over and sank. even with keel masses added to attempt to keep it afloat. ... I have read this somewhere, just don't remember the source though ...

I don't care if I get chastised for this, but I believe during the time of Noah, when the Earth experienced 40 days and nights of rain. I could be wrong, but it's the only time I can think when this happened.

Doubtful. General belief is that water was added after the earth formed and cooled down enough so that water could stay in liquid form. Likely through comet bombardment.
So in general, we had the same amount of water at all times.
