My feeling is that we have, it's just a matter of 10 or 15 years, too long to wait, but it's going to happen, it's already happened young people support our rights in much larger numbers, every day we are making people see that we are just people like them - I would say for every "ex-gay" - all three of them - that there is at least 100,000 who learn to accept us and reject their previous bigotry.
What are my fellow fab gays and gals opinions?

There will always be bigots (in our lifetimes, anyways) but I feel good that the more people learn, the more they realize that human differences make the world a better, richer place.
Could it all go backwards? Most places in the world the laws are still very restrictive. Could the world slide farther back into dark ages again?
Yeah ... if we let it. And (personally I feel) that's part of what we're here for.

Well, you tell me this :
Have blacks and other minorities
"completely won" their own acceptance?
Blacks have been "freed" for over a century, but
how often do you hear someone yell out a racial epithet?
If you want to ask "Are gays finally starting to gain SOME sort of acceptance?" Then I guess the answer is yes.
Thanks to the horrible, albeit popular stereotypes on TV and through other media, gays are starting to gain popularity with the general masses.....
This isn't to say "They're accepted."
More, just that they're present, and here...
It seems that for a lot of people,
being gay is a lifestyle, and not just a personal preference.
That there are more gay guys trying to live up to some stereotype,
rather than just living like any other "straight person"
with the exception that they prefer the same sex.
The truth is that no culture war is ever won.
There will always be bigots.
Hopefully, there'll be less as time goes by.
And the more guys that try to act "fabulous"
and more like the "Queer Eye" guys,
the longer that's going to take.
Such a stereotype doesn't propel a group of people forward.
It just hurts them.....

There's a big difference between supporting gay rights and saying you support gay rights. What's really happening is that young people have begun to bear no animosity towards gays a group -- but they aren't willing to do much to protect us from the people who want to destroy us. "Some of my best friends are gay," they say, and then they don't bother to organize a vote against the defense of marriage amendments because they're too busy.
Until people who support our rights are as passionate about it as those who want to trample on them, we will never be safe.

I think we have had a great deal of success in certain parts of the country but there is a lot to be done in many states.
One real major achievement for LGBTs is that so many of our sisters and brothers who are growing up in the sticks know they are not alone. And that people like them care about their well being.

Every time we come out to someone, that is one more person who will find it hard to discriminate against us. We need more people in the media, sports, movies, education, etc. to come out and be seen--particularly people who have a major following by the public.

I think its dangerous to say "we've already won". I think we're making some serious progress. To have already won means that we can all just sit back and say "ahhh" and let things take their course; which would be a VERY wrong move.

Well yes, the visibility and hatred presented have given us additional support from rational people. I would say it has backfired.
