I have a question regarding divorce. Michigan is a no fault state, right? So since this is true, if a live in girlfriend attends a court date for a show cause against her boyfriend for spousal support, will this have an effect on anything? Would it be in her boyfriends best interest for her to stay at home? Soon to be ex wife is aware the girlfriend lives with her soon to be ex husband, her attorney knows as well but unsure if the Judge knows. Thanks!!!

Girlfriend did not cause marriage the dissolve, she did not even meet her boyfriend until 5 months after wife moved out. The 2 women have never met but have seen each other from 20 feet or so more than once. Wife was the one that left husband and she had many extra marital affairs while husband was at work. Wife moved outta family home and in an apartment with her boyfriend. Apparently wife plans to be remarried soon, husbands best friend ran into her at a jewelry store picking out a new bridal set. Husband just wants it over so he can move on in his new relationship.

Also, there are no children or property between the two.

As a practicing Divorce attorney based on these facts I would advice my client not to bring the girlfriend. Even if the soon to be ex has appeared to move on maybe she hasn't the only thing it could do is inflame the situation. She may then fight just to get revenge and keep the divorce action proceeding only to delay the inevitable.

You should definetly call a local attorney and ask the question on this. If she is thinking about going, its really none of her business of this, its between you, and your soon to be ex husband, if shes goes its going its going to make her look back because shes probably the one that broke up the marriage.
