If you pull the side panel look on the motherboard for a "coin-cell" battery. Kind of looks like a nickel sitting flat on the motherboard. Remove the battery, go to Walmart or any department store and find the watch batteries. Match the battery up (it will be 3.3v) with one you find. Should cost around a couple dollars.

Dont ask anybody anything and dont be in doubt anymore, just change your CMOS battery, which is similar to wrist watch battery but this one is bigger then the earlier I said, you can easily find on the Motherboard, just remove it gently with any pin and if require go with this battery to any electronic shop and ask for the battery, and now fix it the same way, but this time u dont require any pin. Just keep properly on the gap and press it hardly (OOOOOOps not that hard, and yes it is fixed), now start your comp and set your date and time. Now it should work very properly. No more doubt alright.

This typically happens when the cmos battery is dead. It is also possible that it is not making contact correctly.
