I think the only thing we Americans are looked down upon with regards to our kids is the fact that our educational system is not as good as other nations...
We do not have the best teachers or counselors in schools and it is hard to pay for good skilled ones, because there are so many schools to fill with teachers...
What happened to the days when I grew up where teachers just liked to teach because that was their profession, not only because they got a pay hike...

It is a misconception that we all spoil our children. Spoiling isn't about whether children have a lot of belongings or not. Its about whether they appreciate that they have those things, whether they expect them, and whether they are demanding and ill behaved. Its about whether a child is generous and kind to other people, and some of the kindest and nicest children I have known have a lot of belongings. My theory is that because they are not deprived they are also not envious and angry. Many people call the simple thing of having a lot of stuff "spoiled" without considering the real definition of what "spoiled" means.
I haven't been out there in other countries getting a reading on what people thing about this country, but I am under the impression many people wish they could give their children what many Americans are fortunate enough to be able to give theirs.
I think this country may be despised for a lot of things but that is different than "being looked down on". With the exception of a few cultures which have extremely different beliefs than ours, I generally suspect this country may quite often be looked up to.

This feeling if it gets to work on the persons to bring about a change in the way the younger ones need the attention of parents there is nothing like that. No parent on earth would like his offsprings to go astray and would like to make a mark in any of the fields of the choice of the young one.

absolutely. our children have no respect for us or our country and the majority of the problem is parents not taking a stronger role in their upbringing. that includes showing love as well as discipline and i don't mean buying them off to shut them up.
why should any country believe we can lead them or that democracy is great when our newspapers show daily our continual inadequacies as parents.
