For the last couple of days my gecko has been acting sort of strange.

She seems to be really confused all the time, and is falling asleep at the drop of a hat. Sometimes it seems like her right frong leg is having difficulty because she cant walk on it for a short amount of time after she wakes up. For some reason she seems to be getting really skinny too. We feed her all the time, and there is plenty of water in her cage for her to drink.

Is this anything to be concerned about? We've had her for over 2 years, and nothing like this has happened before.

We're sort of concerned for her, she's only about 4 years old, and it seems really bizzare for her to act this way.

I thought I'd ask here before taking her to a vet, just incase this is nothing to worry about, or someone had a similar experience and knows if this is normal or a bit odd.

Thanks a lot in advance for helpful, thoughtful answers :)

Well I know for a fact that leos can live at least 15 years so shes not old by any means.....Im not sure if geckos can have strokes but it sounds kinda like a stroke, confustion & loss of limb use....as far as gettin really skinny I know you said you feed her all the time but is she eating?? If she is when she poos does it look normal or does it come out still looking like whatever it was, ie: can you tell taht it was a cricket that she ate becaues her poo still looks like a cricket?? She may need to be hydrated, you can put her in a container w a ventilated lid w just an inch or so of warmer water and let her soak, it sounds like her system might be shutting down for some reason.....personally Id get her to the vet ASAP, usually lizards dont get skinny unless they arent getting the nutrients they need...BEST OF LUCK!!!

Take it to the vet immediately any weight loss is critical. If she has been kept on silica sand and she has ingested some it may be impacted in the gut. I recommend calcium sand or wood chip as a flooring. Care sheets are available on my web site

Your leopard gecko could be constipated. Sand can never be digested and could be the cause. Did it used to be on Sand? Try and watch it. Like the previous said, look at the poop or try and catch/watch it poop. If it tries and nothing seems to come out but water, then it's probably constipated and there's not much you can do about it.
