well when i had a hamster when i was younger, i'd remove the top part of the cage (the part made up of bars), dump out all the woodchips into the trash, and use the hose in the backyard and some soap to wash the bottom plastic part. sometimes the hamster's urine would dry in the corner, so i'd have to use an old toothbrush or old knife to get it off. now that i'm older i guess bleach would work, but make sure you rinse it off really well so it does not hurt the hamster.

Hmm scrub it down but do not spray anyhting on it. Your hamsters could 'lick' it up and get really ill. What i did for my hamsters was buy Litter Control. Basically tons of ripped up toilet paper or something.Take a bit of smell away and u dont have to scrub as hard. and your hamsters can burrow in it to.

For me, I just wash it with mild soap and water every week or so. Sometimes submerging the cage in bleach every 2-3 months to disinfect and get the pee smells out, but not to much. Gets the smell right out.

Get rid of the hamster - that's what stinks. Get a gerbil. They don't stink, and they don't try to escape.
