Banned for drug use, and can apply for reinstatement in 2 years. He hadn't been previously suspended for steroid use, so it's a good guess he was booted for using what the league terms "drugs of abuse." The drugs on that list are amphetamine and its analogs, which include methamphetamine; cocaine; LSD; opiates, including heroin, codeine and morphine; and PCP.
Last I heard, he had entered a rehab program.
