It is best not to try and motivate someone who doesn't want to be motivated. There are billions of people out there, and if you're wasting time waiting for some specific slacker to get it together, you may be waiting a loooong time. Besides, who's to say that what you want for someone else is what is best for them anyway?
Live & Let Live.
Better to find and associate with people who actually want to do whatever it is you want done.
If you absolutely need to motivate a specific layabout (lost on a desert island or other life threatening situation)... you better learn how to explain in the clearest, simplest terms what your gain vs. loss rationale is. If someone really believes that doing something is in their best interest and still does nothing, there really is nothing that can be done... short of threatening or hypnotizing them (neither of which work very well in the long run).
The best solution is to not be attached to what other people decide to do or not do.

There is no clear cut way. First be positive yourself and make others also the same. Use the language carefully to reach the brain and not the ears.Talk sensibly and touch, hold, caress or use handsignals to bang your points to the brain.

Make them feel like they can do it, and that you'll be there to support them if they need it.
