1. An unshakeable and misguided belief that capitalism and massive economy is good.
2. Lack of education, combined with a population that lives in constant fear of itself: way too many morons, with way WAY too many guns.
3. The government is hugely influenced by enormous corporations, who only care about dollars. (See point 1.)
4. (I know you asked for three, but this one is important): Nobody in America thinks for themselves anymore. USAnians gobble up mass media and government propaganda like it's candy.

1)The Government trying to curb global warming by using ethanol and not converting coal (which the United States is the Saudi Arabia of in terms of supply) into fuel because its appeal to farmers better for getting re-elected and most of the coal is in Democratic States. Hitler used coal to sustain WW2 when Russia cut Germany off from gasoline. United States could easily become energy independent through coal.
2) Failing education system. The reason the United States is the economic power of the World is because of its free market economy and its large population of educated citizens. For decades the United States was known for its cutting edge industry, manufacturing Boeing Planes while China and India made the McDonald's happy meal toys. Now most of our cars and electronics are made in the Orient where their is a large and growing population of highly educated people willing to work for less that can build computers and world breaking skyscrapers. If the United States does not improve its education system and rebuild another strong educated class of citizens before the boomers retire, the United States might start having to make it's own happy meal toys and leave the planes to China and India.
3)Iran, Syria, North Korea. Israel is the one thing standing between a powerful well organized and supplied nuclear capable Iran. the United States should have invaded Iran the second Saddam was found in that rat hole. If idealist like the Iranian president are given the chance they will organize and attack as a nation state with an effective army and the support of the population unlike Osama bin ladin and like Adolf Hitler. I can only imagine the damage that can be done is people who have no sense of self preservation get their hands on a nuclear, deterrence all of sudden fails.

I believe the biggest problem in the richest , most powerful nation in the world, is 1. The lack of a national medical program. In this country the insurance company's, and the A.M.A. controll who gets treatment and who does not. Even the poorer European countries have a national medical program. The argument is we will have to raise taxes to pay for this. Nonsense, just stay out of the little wars in the world, and use that money here at home.
Unregulated and biased illegal immigration. The majority of the illegal immigrants get more and better health care than the working poor and middle class citizens here. Paid for by your taxes.
3. A lack of a concentrated effort to really create livable wage jobs here. Raise the minimum wage, give time off for vacations, school, personal time, based upon performance, and watch the productivity go up. When productivity is up, moral is up,and corporate greed is controlled, we will be competitive with the rest of the world again. China, and other countries for goods and services.

1. The liberal elitist and Democrats not being able to deal with being defeated in the 2000 and 2004 elections. By a President they insist upon is dumb.(?)
2. The hijacking of the Democratic party by the Michael Moore's, George Soros', Hillary Clinton's, etc radical left wing extremists.
3. The failure of the old democrats (and too many common folk dems.) to realize they no longer have the Roosevelt / JFK party they once had. All reasoning is gone.
The DNC is ready to give up this country to whomever for whatever to regain power. It's an 'at all cost' proposition in their minds and they too many blind sheep following.
Brad K has it right! Good summary Brad!

1. We have over two million people in prison. That's nothing to be proud of.
2. We have about 50 million people without healthcare. Again nothing to be proud of.
3. We have over 1 million kids being home schooled. Apparently, parents think they can do a better job than our schools can.
And we're supposed to be setting an example for the rest of the world on what a country should be like. I think other countries look at the United States and say, "Why would we want to be like them?"
