The real question should be...will the viewing public go and see a good movie with a good story line..?
The movie industry has monopolized the whole idea of a car blowing up or some catastrophe happening in which huge special effects come into play. The television has monopolized the 'good movie' scenario with good story lines in many of its police drama's...
For action and adventure, go to the movies. For good story lines, watch t.v.

It's not an issue of whether it's good, nor what script is the "cheapest," but whether it'll make them a ton of money. They'll pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a script that'll make them $300 million.
If you're unhappy with Hollywood, keep in mind that they're not the only source for films--there are plenty of thoughtful and well-written movies emerging from the independent scene, and there are many great foreign movies out there.

No, Hollywood, like all television networks, are in the entertainment business, not the art business. They make movies that they hope will entertain enough people that they will generate lots of income for the studios. The miracle is that good movies, sometimes great movies, do get made somehow.
Of course, what one moviegoer considers good others will think is schlock. I have an acquaintance who actually considers "Billy Jack" to be a great movie. 'Strew, I swear it.

"Snakes On A Plane" I'm going with the 'crappy script' part. Who the hell really wants to see this movie? Seriously. Not to say that there aren't good movies here and there, but come on...

No, the general public may not appreciate quality movies any more. Hollywood pumps out all the bad and nasty films because the public wants to see them. The truth is sad.

They make the most money with low budget comedies ( Aam Sandler flicks) so that is what they like to make. they should of known The Passion would of been great but due to their anti-Christian doctrines they follow they would not support it and Mel Gibson did it on his own and was the most watched movie ever. I would say no.

May be they try... But how can they be successful:
Billy Wilder passed of, Stanley Kubrick is dead —
Coppola has changed in to a wine-maker ....
Sergio Leone...
And Steven Spielberg has lost his "MoJo*". Now What!!!
(* And Austin Powers is a prisoner of Scott Evil!)

No, they are not. All they're doing is putting good clips on the preview and trying to lure people in to watch it.
