Below is an excerpt from an Iranian newspaper ....will Israel find itself facing stiffer opposition becuase of the offensive in Lebenon?
The myth of the invincibility of the Zionist regime’s military has been shattered, and now the Arabs feel emboldened to stand up to Israel.
In the international arena, many countries in the region and the world will reassess Lebanon’s new position and will feel inclined to establish stronger political relations with the country.
Such developments will definitely lead to the political isolation of Israel and eventually to the Zionist regime being cancelled out of all political equations in the Middle East.
Thus, despite its hundreds of nuclear weapons, the Zionist regime will then no longer be the mighty power in the region.

I wasn't expressing a conclusion - I was asking a question At least I hope I didn't give the reader the impression I had reached a conclusion.
The nieghbors (Israel's ) seem to have a very differnt take on how that war ended than I thought they would and now that I read thier response to the withdrawl that was pressured out of them by the international community I see they may want to "make hay while the sunshines".
So did Israel srew itself with this war?

Trout, Insightful, that's all I can say. Posed this question myself. To answer your question, they were badly advised by the US, now they are very very vunerable.

The aritcle makes a lot of statements but I don't see anything that backs them up. Israels military invincibility image shattered? What I nice compliment to pay to Israel and how has it been shattered? Lebanon's new position? As a crippled nation, why would anyone want to stronger political relations with a giant mass of rubble which Hezzy is still hiding under? Political Isolation of Israel? If the arab nations said nothing while they were fighting Lebanon why would they do anything different afterwords? Where is the evidence to support the possibility that any of these event might take place?

Countries in the MidEast would not use the recent conflict in Lebanon as a yardstick to measure the might of Israel's armed forces. They know that it was 'limited' in scale and not an all out war.
How has all this change world perspective on Lebanon? Countries which has diplomatic ties before the outbreak of the conflict will remain to do business; there certainly won't be any more new friends.
I've said it before that the US was delusional in expecting the "birth of a new nation" because it is impossible to root out Hizbollah in Lebanon short of a complete invasion and occupation of the country.
Israel did not deliver. It has failed badly because of a knee-jerk military response that was half-baked. But woe to the country that thinks it's easy prey.

Israel has left little question in my options that they intend to bomb Iran once a possibility, as they for some reason imagine they're the in uncomplicated words us of a in the realm to be allowed nuclear power. Israel did not imagine two times about bombing Saddams nuclear power plant merely formerly they began generating electricity, and that i have self assurance grow to be in 1982, and then back in only the perfect few months bombed Syria claiming they were getting nuclear power plant elements from North Korea. So definite, i have self assurance they are going to, in the very close to destiny bypass after Iran. i don't think of Obama might want to have something to do with their decision to start up a conflict with Iran, and definite, I do anticipate Bush to affix any decision for conflict.

It was Iran who pushed for escalation between Hezbollah and Israel in the first place, so now when their sponsored terror group was seriously damaged, do you expect them to declare that they have lost.
Lebanon' that was the playground of Syria, Hezbollah and Iran is now bringing in military presence from Europe and Muslim countries that are enemies of Iran.
Lebanon is turning against the Syrians and Iranians. the future of Hezbollah is uncertain.
The north of Israel, that was under continuous threat from Hezbollah is prospering again.

Personally I would not trust any "news item" coming from Iran.
Isreal had a right to defend itself reguardless of the outcome.
If Lebanon hadn't harbored Hexbolah they wouldn't be in this mess.I feel no pity for them.
I feel sorry for ALL the innocents that got hurt by it but I feel Isreal was in the right.THEY are the ones whose soldiers were kidnapped and killed.

They were doing just fine until they agreed to the cease fire. Fortunately Hezbollah can be counted on to break it eventually and then Israel can resume wiping Lebanon off the map.

Time to use the nuke. Seriously. Terror was felt in Nagasaki and Hiroshima when Hiro Hito was not a believer in might. Time to define what terrorism is really all about. Any takers (targets)? Minimilist warfare only kills more innocent people. Drop the big one.

I think Israel did screw itself.. Not saying whether or not I support it, but there's hard feelings towards it already.. it woulda been very hard to make the choice to take the missle fire or invade... I'm lucky I didn't have to make such a hard choice.
