Tell him you are sorry about his troubles, but you cannot afford to keep bailing him out financially. That if he cannot pay his share of the bills on time by next month he needs to find a place to move. No offense, but you are beginning to resent carrying him and don't want that to ruin the friendship.

Tell him you are having difficulty paying the bills and that it would be better if he moved out back home until hes up on his feet. If he cant go home then you have a problem but just play him at his own game and sob your heart out about the monetary problems you have and if he has no sympathy then you know hes leading you up the garden path. Its best to be blunt and honest in the long run though otherwise you are going end up hating him. Just confess that you are needing a new roomate before your friendship is ruined forever and admit thats the last thing you want. Honesty is best.

Financial dilemmas should be always handled with an honest approach . Lots of things go unsaid for too long between friends only placing more strain on the relationship , in this world their are givers and takers . Learn from your mistake .

You need to sit him down and tell him the hard cold facts of life, you need to pay your rent, food and power, no more sad sob stories... tell him that you can"t keep this up, and he needs to move on. I know that its hard, but some people just push it to the limit. You need to survive, and life is hard enough, without having to carry someone along as will... you need to do it, for your own wellbeing, so good luck.

The unfortunate thing your roommate has put you in this position but some people start to whinge and see that they are getting away with it they continue. Don't be one of life's doormats you've done your bit time for your mate to do theirs or go, just tell them.

if you have ben friends for a long time then you should talk to him and tell him that you are not prepared to carry him any longer and that you are worried about him if you are true friends then he should understand and respect how you feel and that you are not paying his way any longer.....
