Texting may not be considered cheating, but it can definately lead someone to start. It's easy, it's very discreet, deletable and the spouse is none the wiser...unless they slip!
Other signs of infidelity are these...
dressing better
showering more often
wearing more cologne
always late coming home
going out more than usual
accusing you
and not giving you any more than they have too
hiding cell phone, immediately turning it off when home
hiding computer screen (online chat, email)
It hurts, because he is cheating. Maybe not physically, but in his mind he wants too. You both need to sit down and talk openly and honestly. You know that he doesn't want you to leave if he "makes it up to you", but you are being weak, by letting him do it to you.
Put your foot down. 18 years of marriage is hard to waste, but do you really like the way you are feeling? Put a stop to it, even if you have to stay at a relatives for a few days to let him know you mean business. Be Strong. Then it won't hurt so much, knowing you did something about it!

Since he's a married man, there is no good reason why he should be having this type of friendship with another woman. Putting it simply: It's inappropriate, whether he's just chatting with her or actually sleeping with her. You have to decide if this 18 yrs. of marriage is worth saving and I'm pretty sure you know the answer to that one. Since your marriage is still salvageable at this point, don't you think it's time to do something about it NOW? I wish you luck!

Once a man begins to cheat, her will never stop. He's given himself permission to stray, and nothing will hold him back. I suffered this humiliation repeatedly with my (now ex) husband, and finally told him that I just wasn't going to believe in any of his lies any more. After 16 1/2 years it was damn hard giving up on the relationship that I (at least) had put so much work into.
There really is no way that he is going to change, unless he's in a massive car accident and suffers brain damage.

Usually your instincts are right. If he did not tell you he was talking to this women or text messaging her then he was hiding it which makes me believe there was more going on then just text messaging.

Let just get real here. A married man shouldn't be texting any other women, ever, period. Even if he says they are just friends, I am sure, is she your friend? doubt it. That is just unacceptable and you have to nip this in the butt fast.
