Evangelion is nice.
I've also had some good times with Outlaw Star.
(wait a second! I almost forgot- Cowboy Bebop is good too!)
Sorry to let you down, but some of the best anime is not is series
form! The real good-to-see stuff is all of Miyazaki's work. You must know him,
he is like a god among anime! He did titles such as My Neighbor Totoro,
Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Spirited Away, and above all; Howl's Moving Castle!
There are only two other truly wonderful anime I have ever seen; one was Osama Tezuka's METROPOLIS and Katsuhiro Otomo's AKIRA!!!

DN Angel ( if you like the get backers and such animes, then you will like DN Angel, its about a faimly of thiefs called the NIwa clan and the first born sons at the age of 14 can transform into the greatest thief ever Phantom Thief Dark, and the Niwa of age now is Daisuke, to transform into Dark Daisuke must think of his love. Dark always sends a note ahead to show what hes stealing, i think its for publicity, Dark likes to show off.)
CardCaptor Sakura( the jap version the eng version suks, this may be old but its one of the greatest.)
Magic Knight Rayearth (I thought it was great, at first its an magic and sword anime, then it turns into an mecha anime.)

You should check out Genshiken. It's about a High School student who's into anime and thinks about joining his school's anime club, the Genshiken. This is the only one I could think of that no one mentioned already. Hope you will like it. :)

First of all, that depends on your interest...
if you are into sports, i recommend slam dunk..
and i saw that you are into naruto, and for that try Hunter X Hunter.. they're kinda the same in a way..
