Jaggannath, the answer is actually hidden in your question. In india we have a saying, unless there is fire there can't be smoke. Hence, unless man would not have done the unsocial activities to such a extent that , now its almost like when there is a crime.. not only rape but any, we assume its a MAN who did it. Infact the reality is that over 98% of all rapes are committed by men. Men need to be held accountable for their such a unsocial and inhuman role. Don't take me wrongly here, I'm not against men, infact i have many male freinds who are really good. But what I'm saying is truth. What i have seen in society. At the same time not being totally Feminist i would say , all the responsibility does not fall upon men. Women are continually blamed, although often wrongly, for not preventing or deterring rape. The truth is that the entire male oriented social structure helps to perpetuate sexual assault. Being the vast majority of perpetrators, men as a group have a unique responsibility and opportunity to end rape by taking an active stance against it and the social structures that support the degradation and disempowerment of women.
Thats it....

Humanbeings are the only Animals wherein " Society " is more defined. Needless to say Any Society will have its own wrriten/unwritten laws. Any acts outside these laws will be treated as Unsocial( Like rape ). It is entirely true that the society only is responsible for not only making the laws but also for breaking it.

Technically speaking yes.
But socially speaking its not the man alone. Rape usually occurs because of many social causes, the two most important being a mentally ill person and under some kind of influence like drugs or alcohol. If the person is mentally ill then yes that man is himself responsible but if it under the influence then the society at large is responsible.

two ways of looking at it. Only man, as opposed to other animals, or only the man, and not the woman. Rape is not a sexual act. It is an act of power and control. The victim is not to blame for the rape. Regardless of any provocative dress or mannerisms, rape is not invited.
To my knowledge, no other animals rape.

Rape is generally pinpointed on the man. It doesn't matter if they are both drunk or not, if the women says no, and he continues, it's rape. Although, if they were both drunk, it's much more likely that her opinion is slightly less reliable and there are cases where the woman has just flat out lied.

all of you are nuts. ever wondered why rape is committed.
its a mental disease. only because men are more agrresive than women, they are the one to commit themselves .
such impulsive nature !
its same with everything , men even commit themselves to marriage and then ruin their life!!!!!!.
