Depends on what you consider normal household items. If you get some Tide with Bleach and some Shout and Clorox 2 the dirt will come out. These are all normal household items that you can pick up at Target. Wash in warm water and it should come out. Good luck!

what kind of dirt? That really does matter. Anyhow, the one item that all house holds usually has that seems to do wonders for almost everything is vinagar. Is the stain new or old and is it embedded or just on the surface? If it's on the surface you could use an abrassive like ajax. Just make sure it's not the one that has bleach in it. Also, if you look inside your washing detergent box, it will tell you tips for getting out stains using there product. By the way, Tide is the best detergent out there.

For ink, rubbing alcohol is great. If it is a protein stain, use a bit of bar soap, rub into it and let it sit before laundering. One cup of hydrogen peroxide in the wash (make sure to set the water fill level on its lowest level) helps too, just let it sit in there for a while before running the full cycle. If the stain doesn't come out, don't dry in the dryer because that can just "bake" the stain in. Instead, try repeating one or both of the above until the problem stain is gone.

Items: scissors, a fifty dollar bill, and a bus ticket.
Method:
1)Use the scissors to cut the legs off the stained jeans. Now you have a pair of clean jean shorts.
2) Take the bus ticket and hop on a bus and go to a clothing store.
optional 2) use the jean shorts to bribe the bus driver into letting you on the bus thereby saving the bus ticket.
3) With the fifty dollars buy a new pair of jeans.
optional 3) Use the scissors to threaten the clerk at the store while you steal the jeans thereby saving the fifty bucks.

If you are trying to avoid the chemicals in most detergents baking soda and vinegar are both good cleaning products. Use together for tough stains... it will bubble and fiz a little and you can rub it into the stain...
