Is it fair that Europe gets 13 spots, while South America and Africa get 5 spots each.

Just so we understand...

Europe 63 teams (13 spots)
Africa 62 teams (5 spots)
S. America 16 teams (4 spots)

With out a doubt...thats where the money is...it does not pay to have anyone but a European team win it all...Argentina and Brazil (the most Europe like teams) are allowed to win as well so that their great teams can go up against the savages from south america...

Well your logic is skewed. You think Africa should getmore spots? What have they actually done...no Finals, no Semi-Finals and I believe just two Quarter-Final appearances.

Better would be to chop the World Cup Finals back to 24...16 would be nice but way too low as we need to keep the Third World interested with teams from there. But you saw the recent WC Finals--terrible soccer to watch. One of the worst tournys ever.

I'm from Southamerica and I don't consider it bias.
They want the best... and the best is in Europe.
The truth is that not many teams from other continents can really keep up with the standards set in Europe. And, after all, those are the really money-making teams. And also the football-fan-builder teams.

Goodluck!

It mostly just has to do with the fact that Europe's more of a football (called "soccer" in the US) continent. It's just been glorified and played there more.

Just like if there was a national football (US football) tournie, the US would dominate, because it's a glorified sport here.

No it's not biased.. There are a lot of soccer playing nations on the pro level in Europe.. Is the world series biased against Europe for not giving any slots? After all it is the WORLD Series. not the American/Canadian Series.

of course it's fair. does anyone think that senegal should get in ahead of poland or ukraine? europe just has the vast majority of the top teams, so they should get the vast majority of spots.
