We have used baby oil and a soft brush but it doesn't work well. Also, its hard to rinse out with a squirmming baby. Any better home remedies?

I am not sure how to help you with personal advice because I always used the baby oil for my children, but there are web pages that do have ideas that you might want to think about or look into.

There is a new cradle cap lotion made by gerber. It works really well. Other than using lotion and a fine comb, when you give her a bath make sure that when you wash her hair you rub her head with a washcloth very well or use a fine tooth comb while she is in the bath. The water will loosen and soften the skin and will help it clear up. Do this once or twice a day until it is gone, but be sure to use baby lotion on her whole body everyday after her bath or all of her skin will dry out. Good luck. Let us know what worked best for you!!

Get some Aquaphor at a drug store. It's a kinda thick, clear lotion, that comes in a blue tube. It'll clear it right up. My son had terrible cradle cap, so bad that his hair was falling out, and we tried all kinds of stuff. That was the only thing that worked. It was reccomended to me by a nurse.

You can leave it on as long as you want, and put it on as often as you want. I did his twice every day, and somedays I'd go over it with a fine-toothed baby comb.

Don't use baby oil use baby soap and scrub her head. You can also try keeping a hat on her when she is sleeping..Yeah I know that sounds impossible. Make sure you brush her hair everyday that will help with the cradle cap! Good Luck

Don't use vaseline, babyoil or any other petroleum based products. Try natural oils such as olive oil or grape seed oil. Grape seed oil is nice because a lot of it absorbes into the skin and it's not really oily. Cradle cap is hormonal and will usally calm down on it's own eventually.

I'm not suggesting you do this but, when I was 15 my aunt's daughter was a baby, and she had cradle cap, I didn't know what it was, but I was babysitting one day, and I just picked at it with my fingernail until it came off (it must not have hurt her because she didn't fuss or cry).

A soft brush won't do it. You'll need a comb with sharp teeth but make sure it's the fine tooth typeso it won't the baby. Little by little you'll see it come off.
