Ken Lay was convicted in the Enron case, but now he has died and his lawyers want to clear his record because he cannot appeal the conviction. Happily the government is not willing to do that. What do you think - should the judge clear his name or let the conviction stand?

The reason his lawyers are trying to nullify the conviction is that the government would not be able to seize his assets, leaving them for his family. The conviction should definitely stand. Even if it doesn't the slate will never be clean for Ken "Frito" Lay.

Let the conviction stand. The Jury found him guilty and that's final.

If his lawyers feel that strongly about it, let them appeal the case in court like all the other convicted criminals have to. What makes him so special other than he's dead?

He was convicted by a jury of his peers in open court. The conviction should stand.

Why? He was found guilty. Too late now.

I bet they want the record cleaned so his estate can't be sued for damagaes by all the employees and investors screwed over by his (a) criminality or (b) stupidity. Why should his wife get a bigger break than those poor people?
