What are the closest cities amtrak travels to near salem, virginia?

I am looking to visit a friend in salem the middle of november and would be traveling from milwaukee, wisconsin.

Salem is close to Roanoke,VA.Ironically for a city known for its rail history, Roanoke has not had passenger rail service since the early 1980's. Amtrak offers a bus shuttle service from Roanoke to the station in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Amtrak also stops in Lynchburg.
